Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Welcome to AkiStation. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you visit our website. AkiStation is a deals aggregation platform that helps users find discounted products from various online retailers.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• Email address (if you subscribe to our newsletter)
• Search queries entered on our site

Information Collected Automatically

• Browser type and version
• Device type and operating system
• Pages visited and time spent on each page
• Referring website or source
• IP address

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Display relevant deals and product information
• Improve our website and user experience
• Send deal alerts and newsletters (with your consent)
• Analyze site traffic and usage patterns
• Prevent fraud and maintain security

4. Outbound Links and Affiliate Tracking

AkiStation links out to third-party retailer websites and participates in retailer affiliate programs. Some outbound links on our site are affiliate links — currently this includes links to Playasia and AliExpress. When you click an affiliate link, the destination retailer can identify that you arrived from AkiStation (typically via a query parameter and a cookie they set on their own domain), which is how we earn a commission on qualifying purchases. We do not receive your name, email, payment information, or individual order details — affiliate networks generally provide us only with aggregated reporting (clicks, conversions, commission amounts).

The cookies set by retailers when you click an affiliate link are governed by their privacy policies, not ours. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any retailer before completing a purchase. Full details about our affiliate participation are on our Affiliate Disclosure page.

5. Cookies and Analytics

AkiStation uses self-hosted, cookieless analytics (Umami) to understand aggregate site usage. No cookies are set for analytics, no persistent identifiers are stored in your browser, and no analytics data is shared with third parties. Because nothing is collected that requires consent under GDPR or similar laws, we do not show a cookie banner.

We only use cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to function (e.g., remembering your sort preferences). Affiliate destinations may set their own cookies once you leave AkiStation; those are governed by the receiving retailer's privacy policy, not ours.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share analytics data with third parties. Analytics are processed in-house on the same infrastructure that serves the site. We may disclose information only if required to do so by law.

7. Data Retention

We retain your information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Opt out of marketing communications
• Withdraw consent at any time

9. Children's Privacy

AkiStation is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
